Men's Elite Squad

HKRU-20221001-0965.jpg

Our elite program is made up of both a Premiership and Premiership A team who compete in the two top tiers of Hong Kong Rugby.  The Nan Fung Group | SEWIT Premiership consists of the 6 best teams in Hong Kong who battle it out for the league cup and Grand Championships come the back end of the season. Consisting of Hong Kong rugby’s top players, Kowloon has seen some of its members go on to represent and captain Hong Kong throughout the years.  Current squad members, Bryn Phillips, James Sawyer both train full time for Hong Kong whilst representing Kowloon at the weekend. Our Premiership A team continues to make strides in the second tier of Hong Kong rugby, reaching the play offs for the first time in 5 years in 2019.

Women's Elite Squad

Our Women’s section consists of two teams competing in the Women's Premiership and Championship. We have seen significant development in our Women's program in recent years as our 2nd team have been promoted from National League 2 of Hong Kong’s domestic leagues to the Championship. Exciting times lie ahead for our Womens’ teams as there are now five Hong Kong 7s representatives in the squad. A big shout out to Shanna Forrest, Sabay Lynam, Julia Mibuy, Gabby Rivers and Georgia Rivers who represented the Hong Kong 7s team this year.

Mens Development Squad

Our Mens Development Squads consist of two teams; the Barbarians and Brothers who compete in Community League 1 and Community League 4 of the Hong Kong domestic competitions.  We have seen great improvement over the years. In the 2018/19 season, we saw 8 graduates from the development rugby program step-up to senior rugby by the end of the season. This proves to be a competitive environment where players can develop quickly.  For more information on playing at this level please contact admin@kowloon-rugby.com

Social Rugby

If it’s a fun and more relaxed nature you’re after, then the Beavers social team is for you.  Concerned that training will negatively impact performance on the pitch, pre-game tactics are discussed in the warm up with a solid debrief taking place in the club house post 80 minutes.  Our social team welcomes players of all abilities and offers a great experience for anyone interested.

Kowloon Academy

Ettore.jpg

Kowloon Rugby Club has an established U19 boys rugby academy which offers opportunities for players to continue to grow and reach their rugby potential. The program completes the youth pathway and helps players transition into senior rugby.  The academy plans to create both a Premiership and Championship squad to allow all playing abilities to development and excel. The program is inclusive and welcomes all players graduating from U16 youth rugby, who wish to challenge themselves and enjoy the camaraderie and benefit of joining an academy environment.

Not only is the U19 Academy an ideal pathway for players graduating from Sai Kung Stingrays and Discovery Bay Pirates, but an ideal pathway to senior rugby for any players located in Hong Kong. With training taking place in a central location, King's Park Sports Ground and led by Premiership players, Bryn Phillips and Curtis Reynolds, we are excited about another quality season from our U19s team!
